For nearly 2 decades the Tokyo-Frost Valley YMCA Partnership has hosted culture sharing workshops. Every year workshops are held at our Friendship House. Built in honor of our friendship with the Tokyo YMCA, this house is a traditional Japanese building decorated by the Honma family, founders of the Tokyo-Frost Valley YMCA partnership. The building was designed to host special programs in Japanese art, culture and history.

Every August, during Summer Family Camp, culture sharing workshops are offered to family campers. The Tokyo Partnership brings artists, scholars, musicians, craftsmen and other skilled professionals from Japan to teach these workshops. Past workshops have included Japanese Rock Gardens, Kurume Kasuri Weaving, Sushi Roll Making, Creative Paper Cutting, Origami Art, Pressed Flower Pictures, Soba (Buckwheat Noodle) Making, Hanagasa (Flower Hat) Folk Dance, Yajirobei (Balancer) Wood Craft, Shakuhachi (Japanese Flute) Music Workshops and more.
