2010-2011 Horseback Riding Options

Pony Rides (Ages 4-7)
Riders will enjoy a short hand-led pony ride and will then have the opportunity to groom and pet one of our ponies. Total program time is 30 minutes.
Cost per child is $10.

Mini Lesson (Ages 8-10)
Riders will participate in a basic western riding lesson on how to start, stop, and steer their horses independently. Total program time is 30 minutes.
Cost per child is $20.

Trail Rides (Ages 9-Adult) (Minimum Height of 4'2")
Riders will independently control their horses on a walking trail ride along the Neversink River. The ride is led and supervised by horse barn staff. Total program time is 60 minutes.
Cost per person is $30.

Barn Rules

All reserved ride spaces must be paid for at breakfast on the Saturday of my trip between 8:00-8:30am or reserved ride spaces will be given away to guests on the waiting list. Your ride will be scheduled at this time.

  • Height and age requirements will be enforced.
  • Long pants that reach the ankle are required.
  • Sturdy sneakers or boots are required (no Crocs, Keens, open-heeled shoes, or sandals of any kind).
  • No yelling, screaming, or running during any horse program.
  • Frost Valley YMCA staff reserve the right to remove any rider from the program due to safety concerns.
  • In case of mild rain, rides will still run. In case of severe rain, thunder or lightening, rides will be cancelled and guests will receive a refund at the following meal.
  • Any guest who has questions or concerns about rides can e-mail Horses@FrostValley.org prior to the time of their trip.
