   Frost Valley strives to hire the best and most qualified staff in the camping industry. Each year, we hire approximately 250 staff, primarily college students from across the country and the world. We follow a 1-to-4 counselor to camper ratio. Our counselors and staff are selected based upon a unique combination of skills, a demonstrated interest in working with children, experiences, enthusiasm, and the ability to be strong positive role models.

  The camp is staffed year-round by a team of qualified and experienced camp directors who work to ensure the quality and organization of camp running smoothly.

   Frost Valley is committed to the development of the four core values of the YMCA, Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility and four more values specific to Frost Valley; Stewardship, Inclusiveness, Diversity, and Community. These values are a large part of the in-depth staff training process. Pre-camp orientation will teach the skills necessary to work effectively with children and sets the stage for a safe, healthy, and worthwhile summer. Adventure Specialists

The four Advenutre Specialists will be responsible for leading activities including high ropes, mountain boarding, rock climbing, and/or skateboarding to campers ages 8-16. This a program position that does not require living with campers but does involve 50-60 hours per week.

  • Salary Range: $230-250/week
  • Minimum Age: 18 years


Adventure Trip Leader

Along with a co-leader, Adventure Trip Leaders will be responsible for 6-12 teens (ages 11-17) taking part in 1 to 2-week adventure trips. You will be teaching basic camping skills and modeling healthy a lifestyle while participating in scheduled activities in locations around the country.

  • Salary Range: $230-250/week depending upon experience and certifications
  • Minimum Age and Requirements: 21 years, valid U.S. driver's license

Arts-and-Crafts Coordinator

Direct the arts-and-crafts program. The Arts-and-Crafts Coordinator will be responsible for developing high quality arts-and-crafts programs for the entire summer camp community as well as managing a limited number of supplies and a small staff (of 3-4 people). The Coordinator may also be called upon to provide artistic support for the Programming office and other camp activities.

  • Salary Range: $220-270/week
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Assistant Hird and Wawayanda Camp Directors

The Two Assistants will help with the daily grind, direct up to 75 staff and 250 campers a day. Also assist in camper and staff placement, child and staff supervision, serve as parent contact, resolving camper and staff conflicts, and planning camp logistics.

  • Salary Range: $360-410
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Bus Coordinator

Coordinates the departure of campers and luggage from camp and then is responsible for signing campers back over to parents, dealing with luggage that is left behind, and supervising bus staff.

  • Salary: Will receive a one time payment of $300 for entire summer of bus coordinating in addition to regular weekly salary

Counselor-in-Training Coordinator

Direct a group of 20 CITs over a 4 week session. Facilitate leadership workshops, lead a backpacking trip, monitor the in-cabin experience, develop leadership skills, and evaluate each individual.

  • Salary Range: $220-260/week
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Counselor-in-Training Director

Direct a group of four CIT Coordinators and 20 CIT campers. Organize activities that include training sessions, in-cabin experiences, and a nine day out-trip.

  • Salary Range: $360-400
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Counselor

One of two counselors in a cabin. They are responsible for the direct supervision and guidance of eight campers. Counselors travel with their campers throughout the day, teaching and participating in a wide variety of activities.

  • Salary Range: $160-210/week
  • Minimum Age: 18 years

Farm Counselor

Here is a chance to work and live with kids and adults on a real working educational farm. Farm counselors will spend their morning teaching farm skills in the pastures, gardens, and barn. Afternoons will be spent doing traditional camp activities.

  • Salary Range: $180-210/week
  • Minimum Age: 18 years

Junior Counselor

Open for those who are under the age of 18. They will have a chance to live and work with a senior counselor. Together, they will be responsible for up to eight kids. They assist in the supervision and guidance of the campers with continued training throughout the summer.

  • Salary Range: $110-120
  • Minimum age: 17 years

MAC Counselor

Be responsible for the supervision and guidance of campers with a wide range of disabilities. Counselors travel with campers throughout the day, teaching and participating in a wide variety of activities. MAC has a higher counselor-to-camper ratio because of the extreme camper need. This position may require assistance in daily care, hygiene, eating, and so on in addition to typical counselor duties.

  • Salary Range: $180-230/week
  • Minimum Age: 18 years

Program Director

Supervises program staff, helps with the daily operations in camp, and plays an important role in planning and implementing all major camp events and daily activities. Creativity and organization skills are a must. This is our key logistics person.

  • Salary Range: $375-450
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Assistant Program Directors

The two assistant program directors will help with the daily operations of the program office and direct up to 60 staff. They will play an important role in planning and implementing all major camp activities along with all daily activities for campers.

  • Salary Range: $360-400
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Program Specialist

Supervise and teach in your own specialized area! Be responsible for setting up and leading activities. Some program areas are; arts and crafts, photography, Yoga, Nature, lifeguards, incredible edible. Previous experience is required in most program areas.

  • Salary Range: $160-200/week
  • Minimum Age: 18 years

Support Staff

They either work in the camp office, as the camp driver, or in the dining hall. These are the roles at Frost valley that will help keep us running a super summer camp! Positions are open to both people who are looking for on camp living and part-time, off-camp living.

  • Salary Range: $160-210/ week depending on position
  • Minimum Age: 18 years, must be 21 and have a valid U.S. driver’s license to drive

Village Chief

One of the Best positions at Frost Valley! Direct and coordinate staff, campers and the overall program for your assigned village. Each village is made up of 32-40 kids and 8-12 staff. They will live in cabin like a counselor and have the additional responsibility of creating village programs that will make their kids have the summer of a lifetime!

  • Salary Range: $220-270/week
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Waterfront Director

They are responsible for a team of up to 20 lifeguards and all happenings at Lake Cole and our swimming holes. Frost Valley’s waterfront is always bustling with activity at the boathouse, swimming docks and water trampoline. We offer recreational swim and instructional swim lessons.

  • Salary Range: $375-400
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Assistant Waterfront Director

They will assist the waterfront director with the supervision of up to 20 lifeguards and all happenings at Lake Cole and our swimming holes. In addition to the duties of life guarding you will play an important role in scheduling trainings for staff. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for monitoring recreational swim and instructional swim lessons.

  • Salary Range: $220-250
  • Minimum Age: 21 years

Health Center Aid

General duties include but are not limited to maintain adequate nutritional intake of campers staying in Health Center, ensure safe and healthy environment for campers to stay in, answering telephones, filing of health histories, data capturing, and assisting nursing staff to maintain calm environment for recovering in. **No medications or treatments will be rendered by the Health Center Aid.

  • Salary: $7.50 per hour

E.M.T.

Emergency Medical Technician with 2 years experience. Triage and care of campers entering Health Center, maintaining of medical equipment and supplies, providing first aid and care to campers unable to ambulate to Health Center.

  • Salary: $11.50 per hour

Camp Nurse L.P.N.

Medication administration, supervision of campers residing in Health Center.

  • Salary Range: Negotiable with housing and child Care Options

Camp Nurse R.N.

Medication Administration, sick call hours, supervision of Health Center Aids, Camp Nurse LPN, and Camp Health and Wellness.

  • Salary Range: Negotiable with Child Care Options

Internships Available!
If you are studying education, recreation, psychology, sociology, biology, or any other related course we can help you arrange a great educational experience that compliments your college major. This is a great chance for you to work with kids, get room and board and earn college credit. Please contact us for more information.

Wrangler/Riding Instructor

Our 50 horse program offers both English and Western riding to campers of all ages and skill levels.  Staff provide all care for our horses in addidion to all instruction for campers.

  • Salary Range: $180 - $300
  • Minimum Age: 18
