I’ve been going to Frost Valley YMCA for 7 years now, and I’m approaching my last year as a camper. If there’s anything that Frost Valley has taught me, it’s that being friendly, nice, and caring is the best feeling in the world! The first day of my first year as a camper was life changing for me. All of the counselors were so welcoming and friendly. I’m proud to call Frost Valley my home!

Winter Camp Jeopardy

On a cold and blustery afternoon here at Winter Camp, our oldest campers took a break of the blowing wind and snow to sit down and have an impromptu and improvised game of Jeopardy! Facilitated by counselors Pat and Shawn and their arsenal of random knowledge on everything from Dora the Explorer to Space to the Box Car Kids, campers and staff alike were challenged to come up with the best answer possible. Winter Wonderland at Frost Valley!

Energy stayed high as our Winter campers rolled into their first full day in a snowy wonderland! Each one of the cabins spread out their activities today taking advantage of some of the great opportunities like snowy gaga! Some of the morning’s highlights were meeting and learning about Frost Valley’s residential raptors, climbing the indoor climbing wall, caroling, and making winter swag in arts and crafts.

In the afternoon some of the cabins headed out to the tubing hill and took their crack at broom ball! Indoor archery and capture the flag on castle lawn were also amazing. Today was great because anywhere we went on Frost Valley property we were overwhelmed with a wintery wonderland, which could only be interrupted by brief interludes of hot chocolate.

Tonight our campers split up. The younger half of camp prepared lip sync performances while the older half of camp loosened up for a good old fashioned game of peaceful toss and evade (dodge ball).

Throughout the day our director team conducted interviews for the CiT’s and JC. We will continue with the CiT and JC interviews tomorrow.

Test Day Camp Post

Outpost and Forest, two of Camp Wawayanda’s male villages, spent part of the afternoon playing silly summer camp games such as “fight the faucet” and “mortal noodle.” Campers were challenged to seal the water flow of one the spigots on Big Tree Field, which typically results being drenched – perfect for a warm day! While the challenge is difficult, a few boys managed to fight the faucet and WIN!!!

Campers also played mortal noodle, a two person game where players are blindfolded and must find a pool noodle and gently touch the opposing player with the noodle. The first camper to complete the challenge is the winner!

The Greenhouse, Part II

A few weeks ago we planted some of our first seeds in our newly renovated greenhouse. A bit more than two weeks later, you can already see the new plants shooting up. Despite being a chilly day, the greenhouse manages to stay quite hot.
