The Tokyo-Frost Valley Partnership serves
the Japanese community in the tri-state area through youth and family
programs. When the program began in 1979, its main objective was
to establish YMCA programs for Japanese families, bringing them
together with American families to share experiences and skills
that would not only make their stay in a foreign country more pleasant
but also enhance both cultures. Today, the Partnership reaches more
than 2,000 participants annually through a broad spectrum of services.

Family
Programs for the Japanese Community
Strengthening the family
is a major goal for the Partnership and is embodied in many of its
year-round program offerings. Ski programs for the entire family
are scheduled for various weekends, December through February, utilizing
the excellent downhill and cross-country skiing in the Catskills
and Adirondack Mountains.
Father-Son
Program
The Father-Son Program assists Japanese fathers whose corporate
pressure, long hours and weekend business-related commitments make
it difficult for them to spend more time with their children. This
program, helps fathers make their sons their top priority for a
weekend in the spring and fall. The success and popularity of this
program has led to the development of Father-Daughter Program.
US / Japan Seminars at Frost Valley
YMCA
In November of each year, the Partnership conducts a one week Environmental
Education Workshop for participants from Japan. The program explores
environmental education principles and practices at Frost Valley
and draws participants from a wide range of occupations - from educators,
business administrators, YMCA professionals to government workers.
The
Friendship House

the Tokyo-Frost Valley YMCA Partnership, this unique building is
designed to showcase Japanese Culture and to provide a center for
strengthening the ties between the American and Japanese people.
The Friendship House comprises a traditional Japanese Tatami Room,
a Japanese Bath, a traditional Japanese rock garden, and a variety
of artifacts and gifts from Japan . The building serves as the center
for culture sharing activities throughout the year, and is the summer
residence of the Tokyo-Frost Valley YMCA Partnership Director.
