Program Descriptions

 

Boating and Canoeing

Take a rowboat or a canoe out onto Lake Cole for an enjoyable paddle around the lake.  Staff members will be available for instruction for safety.  Come and stay as long or as short as you would like.

Cable Bridge Hike

Cross over water by using a bridge made of three sturdy cables.  There are five different bridges on property, so hikes will vary in length and difficulty. You must be 8 years old and 3 ½ feet tall to cross all bridges.  No exceptions.  

Candle Making

Make a candle by using hot, colored wax, a piece of string, and patience.  This age-old craft is open to all ages and will take approximately 30 minutes.

Climbing Wall

Climb the outdoor man-made climbing wall.  Enjoy the challenge of climbing a 35-foot wall using a belay system, a harness and your won strength and determination.  You must be at least 5 years old, have closed shoes on, and safely fit into the harness and helmet. 

Ecology Hike (E)

A mixture of hiking, learning, and exploration make this activity both fun and educational.  Learn about animals, adaptations, habitats, and how it all fits together.

Fusion Beads

Make an ornament using plastic beads and a template board.  There are over 6 different types of designs and many different colors to choose from. This activity will take approximately 30 minutes from beginning to end.

Low Ropes Challenge!

Challenge yourself in small groups on our low standing ropes course be ready for crazy cable challenges and swinging rope adventures.

Maple Sugar Shack Hike (M)

You’ve seen it in our stores, and tasted it on your breakfast!  Now come see how we make it! We will hike one way to our Maple Sugar Shack and bus the other way.   Join us for a tour and taste! 

Outdoor Living Skills

Join us to learn some new skills for living in the great outdoors.  Learn shelter building, how to build a fire, proper clothing and tips and tricks for life outdoors

Pond Exploration

Join us we look for creatures both big and small that live in our pond habitats.  All living things are to be respected and returned to their original homes.

Raptor Center Tour

Visit our permanent Frost Valley resident birds of prey.  Learn about hawk and owl adaptations – feathers, talons, pellets and much more!

Skins & Skulls Nature Room Tour

Learn about various animals by touching and exploring animals’ pelts, bones, and fur.  Also get a tour of our Nature Room located in the upper solarium of the Main Dinning Hall. 

Tie-Dying

Bring a piece of clothing outside the Dinning Hall as we will use several techniques and colors to create clothing masterpieces!  You can buy a cotton T-shirt at the Frost Valley Store before class begins for $5.

Whimsical Wind Chimes ($5) !

Join us at Arts and Crafts to create your own ceramic wind-chimes.  You will pick out your pieces, decorate them with glaze and then turn them back to our staff member.  The staff will then “fire” your pieces in our kiln.  Retrieve them on Sunday Morning between 9:00-9:30 at Arts and Crafts.  We will provide you with string, from which you suspend the pieces.  Space is limited, so be sure to sign up Saturday at Breakfast. 

Wood Burning

Using a wood burner, draw a design on a piece of wood from a local tree

Yoga

Be led by a Frost Valley staff member to increase balance, positive energy, and you’re heart rate during this class.  Please wear comfortable clothing.
