Environmental Stewardship

Natural Resources

Frost Valley YMCA owns nearly 6,000 acres of property.  This land is home to vast natural resources in the heart of the Catskills, which are managed by the Natural Resources and Environmental Science Department.  Our land is managed for multiple uses, including recreation, watershed protection, diversity, timber, fish and wildlife, and aesthetics.

Frost Valley YMCA understands the importance of conservation of our natural resource and strives to manage resources in as sustainable manner.  The Society of American Foresters (SAF) defines Conservation as “the management of a renewable natural resource with the objective of sustaining its productivity in perpetuity, while providing for human use.”
