WELLNESS CENTER: Seasonal Summer Camp Health Care Technician

Position: SUMMER CAMP HEALTH CARE TECHNICIAN - SEASONAL
Description:
This may include, but is not limited to, ensuring that all distributed medical and emergency supplies, and equipment are updated, labeled and properly located. Documenting service and inspection of equipment. Assess guest and staff members who need medical treatment. Collaborate with the medical staff and document care provided.
Qualifications:
Minimum Wilderness First Responder certification and/or current EMT certificate valid in New York State. Experience preferred. Must
be certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED; and have a valid NYS
Driver's License and willing to obtain an ATV certification. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all guests, staff members and outside emergency services organizations. Must be well organized, be a self-starter and work well under pressure. Must be in good physical health and able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds - medical equipment over rough terrain.
Responsibilities:
- The Health Care Technician on call should respond to all emergency calls, taking the lead in providing medical care where required. Be responsible for the readiness of the emergency vehicles, ensuring that the vehicles and all applicable equipment are properly located and serviceable.
- Follow up on reports of hazardous/unsafe situations on property (including tracking) and check on the operation of emergency phones.
- Assist with risk management, safety, security and emergency planning and policy review.
- Provide medical/emergency on-call services.
- Medical on-call hours may change to provide safe and adequate coverage for the Health Center during Summer Camp.
- Additional duties as assigned by the EMS Coordinator and/or the Health care Administrator.
- All actions and decisions must parallel Frost Valley YMCA’s operating objectives, mission and core values.
Pay Rate:
$3000.00 for the season or $750.00 per session. Starting June 22, 2009 and ending August 22, 2009. Room and board included.
