Through study design and implementation, data collection, data analysis, and data assessment Frost Valley and its guests will come to know the functioning of our Catskill environment and develop strategies that contribute to maintaining or improving its health. The study will provide a training ground for participants to learn to assess and diagnose Earth's health.
From an early age, children should be trained as critical-thinkers, actively involved in the collection, assessment, and analysis of environmental data that allows them to diagnose Earth's health. Therefore, at the start of Frost Valley's second century of service, students, volunteers, and clubs will participate in a continuous 100-year study to inventory and assess Catskill ecosystems through long-term studies of the status, and interactions between, the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere at Frost Valley.
This is a 100-year investment in our guests, the environment, and us. The studies will provide consistent long-term data for present and future research and education, while training students as critical-thinkers who are able to use the tools and methods of science in the pursuit of sustaining life on Earth.
Our major goals are 1) to create a program that gives participants the process and tools to help move toward human-environment sustainability, and 2) to assess, to understand, and to improve Frost Valley 's human - environment interactions within Catskill ecosystems.
