When can groups come to Frost Valley?
The Forstmann Conference Center’s weekend programs begin Labor Day and continue through Father's Day. Mid-week programs occur during President’s Day break in February and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. After Father's Day, Frost Valley's Summer Camp program is in session. The Straus Center is available during the summer season for adult education and small group use. The last week in August, the Forstmann Conference Center runs a six-night Family Camp program.
What is the value of a retreat to Frost Valley YMCA?
Frost Valley is a full-service retreat center of 6,000 acres, surrounded by 250,000 acres of "forever wild" Forest Preserve in the Catskill Mountains. The pristine and beautiful location allows guests to take a step back, slow down, and focus on what is important to them. Our staff coordinators work closely with your organization to align expectations and goals for your retreat. Your experience can be a relaxing weekend full of scenic hikes along clear streams with starry nights by the fire. It may be filled with personal challenges and action-packed adventures on our ropes courses, climbing tower or mountain boards. Groups may choose to utilize our facilities, meeting space and conference rooms with our workshop facilitators or their own.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed on Frost Valley YMCA grounds.
What are the rates/fees?
Weekend rates are based on a per person charge and a lodging fee. Adult and child rates are set up to include food service and most programs.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-In on Friday is from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Stop by the Administration Building to check in your family or group. Check-out on Sunday from lodges is 12 p.m. and from camp by 2 p.m.
What can you do while you are here?
Frost Valley provides a wide range of programs during a weekend stay. Programs are recreational and educational in nature and enjoyed by all ages. You can find our sample seasonal schedule here.
How long does it take to get to Frost Valley YMCA from the tri-state area?
Frost Valley YMCA is 2-1/2 hours northwest of the Tri-State area of northern New Jersey and New York City, 2 hours east of Binghamton and 2 hours southwest of Albany. Directions to Frost Valley.
Do you serve vegetarian/vegan meals?
Frost Valley YMCA can accommodate vegetarian requests. Contact the program coordinator at confpc@frostvalley.org two weeks in advance. Special dietary needs should be shared with our staff ahead of time, to best meet the needs of your group.
Are sheets and towels included with my lodge?
Towels, pillows, blankets, and bed linens are included in rates for Lakeview, Castle and the Straus Center. With advance notice, towels, pillows, blankets, and bed linens are available in all other buildings at $6 per set.
Will my cell phone/Blackberry ring at Frost Valley?
There is no cell phone service in our area and television screens are rare. Wi-fi and internet stations are available in our Dining Hall. Calls to Frost Valley's main number at (845) 985-2291 are answered from 8:00 AM until 11:00 PM and messages are delivered the next meal.
