Salutations Alumni Family!

Here at Frost Valley, Halloween was quite the show this year. Our haunted house left our many guests entertained and full of fright. The kids, running around in their costumes, added much festivity to the camp and were quite the sight to see!  We open the haunted house three weekends a year to Frost Valley guests and the community.  It was a great success and we look forward to continued success next year!

Frost Valley, true to its name, had its first frost of the season this past week.  It continues to get chillier everyday and soon I may report of snow!

As winter approaches and the holidays near, memories of the summer continue to flood back in my memory (mostly due to the warm weather that I long for!).   I am sure that I am not the only one with these recollections.  If you have a memory that you would like to share, please email alumni@frostvalley.org and we will put them on the website for all to experience and share.  For the current memories shared, please visit http://www.frostvalley.org/alumni_volunteer/alumni/scrap_book/memories.htm.

GOLF UPDATE…

We recently had our 3rd Annual Golf Classic which raised over $24,000 at the golf outing.  That will pay for 17 kids to come to camp!  Thanks to all the Alumni that participated.  We are already starting to look for volunteers to help with next year! If you have a golf passion, or just a desire to help Frost Valley send kids to camp, you can email kthayne@frostvalley.org and be a part of a fantastic event!

NEW ADDITION…

Lisa Ernst has recently been named Director of Development for Frost Valley YMCA.

Originally a native of New Jersey, Lisa has spent the last 25 years of her professional career in not-for-profit management committed to youth-related issues. Lisa earned a Master Degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and attributes much of her character, values and sense of community to her many years as a camper and staff member at Frost Valley. Lisa can be reached at the Frost Valley office in Montclair New Jersey and would love to hear Frost Valley alumni and friends lernst@frostvalley.org  or 973-744-3488.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS…

A message from Sara Boilen (90’s camper and counselor):

I'm a Frost Valley alum and am currently a grad student in Colorado.  I'm attending the Association for Experiential Education Conference in a few weeks down in Little Rock, AR, and am curious if there will be any other FVers there (alum or current).  I am particularly interested in looking for someone who is interested in sharing a room as I have little money (being a grad student!) or just folks who I can connect with down there and reminisce.
If you have any information to share with Sara, please email me at mpauls@frostvalley.org.

WE RECENTLY HEARD FROM….

Alumni Co-President Dari Litchman and her husband Jonathan Dahan are thrilled to announce the expansion of their family. In early May, they will add to their small family of one cat and one dog with the addition of their first child! They also just bought a grand fixer-upper in Dari’s hometown of Montclair, NJ, and hope to be moving within the next couple of months.  Dari can be reached at dlitchious@yahoo.com and would love to hear from any and all old FV pals.

Leonard Aberman recently made a trip back to the valley with his family after 20 years of being away.  His time here was just as magical as before—and just as fun!  To read the details of his trip down memory lane, please see Al’s blog: http://frostvalleyalumni.blogspot.com/ and click October.

Mike Gadarian (FV 2000-2003) Mike has said that after three years working in NYC, he transferred with this current company to Phoenix, AZ, to be closer to family and sun!

Chris Ware, Andy Ware, and Mark Gottdenker recently connected through the Alumni Association.  Andy is a Ferrier and works horses in VT, MA, NH, and NY.  Chris is now splitting his time between the East and the West.  In the summers he has the dangerous job of a fisherman in Alaska.  After he catches his fill, he returns here to the East and works as a trail groomer at Okemo Ski Area.  If you would like to touch base with any of these fine gentlemen and remember when, email alumni@frostvalley.org and we will make it happen!

Jenna Ostrow (FV 1990-1995) is currently living in Brooklyn, NY and is the Assistant Principal of the New York Harbor School.  She is thrilled that her Sister Olivia Ostrow (1989-2003) has recently moved to Manhattan from Toronto.  Olivia is a pediatrician and was married in 2006.  Jenna can be reached at jostrow@att.net and Olivia can be reached at oliviaostrow@yahoo.com.

Debbie ‘Floyd’ Moree (FV 1985-1992) Hello Frost Valley!  This past summer my 12 year old son (Tyler) was a camper in Outpost!!!  Rick Warmlee and Liz Horn were the FV Directors when I was a camper...along with Peter Swain!  I remember Chris Mills from Ranch Camp & Ranch Leaders.  I grew up in Florida and would fly into Newark, NJ every summer for 8 years to head to Frost Valley to see all of my camp friends & counselors!  It is great that Tyler was able to have the FV experience this summer....he really had a great time!  I am now living with my son in Bristol, CT and would love to reconnect with some old Frost Valley friends.

Steve Parsley (FV 2004-2007)- Steve has finished up his time here at Frost Valley and has gone home to South Africa.  Steve was a great asset here in the Summer Camp world as the Program Director this past summer and will be greatly missed! Best of luck to him in his next adventure!

Tanyiki Davenport (FV 1985-87, 1991-1992)  Tanyiki is currently living in Medford, NJ

Marie Inui (FV 1999-2003, 2005, 2007) Marie is currently living in Forest Hills, NY

Rob Rosolanko (FV 1979-1983)- currently living in Binghamton, NY

We are also looking for great Winter Camp memories! Please let us know your favorite snow memory! Until next time, please do keep in touch—let us know what is happening and where.  We are here to help you reconnect and find that extraordinary feeling that only Frost Valley gives.

Here's to a happy holiday season with lots of great food, family, and fun!
