Summer Camp
The kids are here! Summer Camp had its first opening day on Sunday, June 29th and despite the rain, every face was smiling!  If you want to check out what is going on this summer, there are several different options available to you.  You can read Al’s blog: http://frostvalleyalumni.blogspot.com/, with several new posts daily, sure to bring a smile to all.  You can also read what is going on with campers this summer, with a Summer Camp blog: http://fvsummercamp.wordpress.com/ or with Adventure Trips: http://fvadventures.wordpress.com/. Both will let you see how camp is changed, and also how it is magically still the same.

Big Waterfront News
There are new docks—lots of them.  The swimming area has been expanded, there’s a new water-sports court and plenty of room for swim lessons.  Now all the kids have to do is watch out for catfish…

Summer Games
This summer we have 24 countries represented with our international staff.  This will provide for a full “Small World” program First Session, and lots of teams to choose from for “Olympix” Second Session.  This year’s games will be just as exciting as the real games held in Beijing!  Be sure to check out the blogs above for updates.

2008 NYC Summer Kick-Off
Kabin in NYC was full of Frost Valley Alumni on June 13th— this annual tradition starts the summer off with a fundraiser for FV alumni.  This year’s organizer Caroline Donohue located a fun and “campy” bar that supported the cause by offering drink specials. FV alumni raised enough money to send an inner-city child to camp this summer. Thanks to all who attended and contributed to a great event! You too can celebrate years gone by and raise money to send kids to camp!  If you’re interested in having an event in your area, email alumni@FrostValley.org for all the details.

Guenther Family Wellness Center
The Guenther Family Wellness Center opened its doors for Summer Camp!  The second floor of this 2 story building is now fully functional and will serve as a traditional infirmary and the Kidney Dialysis Center. Thank you for all the contributions from Alumni that made this building possible.  Inside the new center the alumni reception area will be dedicated to the beloved Joy White who served as the camp nurse for more than a decade.  As some of you know, Joy was a pioneer in Wellness and TLC in the mid- to late 70’s at Frost Valley.  Construction is continuing downstairs.  The area will contain much needed indoor program space, including a toddler room, arts and crafts center, and a 150-seat theatre.
If you’re interested in donating to Frost Valley’s campership fund, why not own a permanent ‘seat’ in the indoor theatre, Contact the Development office: development@FrostValley.org or 973.744.3488.  The official ribbon cutting for the event will be Sept. 13th, 2008.

Alumni Reunion
A mini-reunion for alumni is long overdue!  Come join your friends and make new ones this fall.  The weekend of Sept. 12-14, alumni can come up and see the new changes at our favorite old place!  Enjoy activities like apple cidering, the zip line, and of course, candles!   The cost for the weekend is $110/person (which includes lodging, food, program, and linens).  If you are interested, please email Melissa Pauls (mpauls@frostvalley.org).
