Who We Are
An alumnus or alumna of Frost Valley is anyone who has been a member of the staff, a camper, a conference participant, a family camper, a teacher or student from schools that visit Frost Valley during the academic year. There is no membership threshold; “membership” is de facto and involvement is based purely on an individual’s desire to participate.
Mission
Because Frost Valley is an organization that helps build strong communities, families and children, and because of its inclusive and international philosophy, we know that when you support Frost Valley you support the world!
The Frost Valley Alumni Association will attract and retain the commitment of Alumni to support Frost Valley’s mission through participation in projects, fundraising, and volunteerism.
Action Plan
The Alumni Association will demonstrate its commitment to furthering Frost Valley’s overall mission, sustainability, and growth by:
- Providing a base of experienced helpful volunteers; attracting and retaining volunteers who give back to Frost Valley and support its overarching mission; provide Frost Valley’s program area directors a source of volunteer help when needed;
- Serving as an effective fundraising organization for “camperships” (camper scholarships) to enable participation in camp for children whose families could not otherwise afford the cost. This will foster Frost Valley’s tradition of inclusiveness, by providing real, tangible support to camperships, mainstreaming partnerships, wellness programs, etc.;
- Raising funds for special projects; close to the hearts of alumni and directly support Frost Valley’s mission;
- Developing future Frost Valley leadership; nurturing and cultivating future volunteer leaders for Frost Valley; by providing concrete volunteer opportunities that offer alumni a way to stay in touch and productively collaborate;
- Helping Frost Valley’s staff carefully track and maintain contact with alumni, through the implementation of a system (database, list serve, etc.) which measures volunteerism and philanthropy;
- Participating in the international perspective that is a key to Frost Valley’s success and to the YMCA generally; help identify ways in which Frost Valley can respond to worldwide needs.
- Hosting periodic reunions and gatherings; organize ways in which members of Frost Valley’s far-flung family can stay in touch
- Serving as ambassadors and carriers of the Frost Valley message; educate members of the community about the programs and benefits Frost Valley has to offer in an effort to recruit new staff, increase utilization of Frost Valley’s conferencing space.
