Natural Resource Sporting Memberships…
are educational, value-based recreational programs firmly grounded in the tradition of safe sporting practices. Programs are dedicated to the responsible stewardship of our natural environment and to the personal growth that results when people spend quality time in the outdoors with family and friends.
Through Frost Valley's Natural Resources Membership Program, you can take part in hiking, camping, fishing and hunting opportunities on over 5,000 acres of forest, fields, meadows and streams, surrounded by more than 100,000 acres of New York State Forest Preserve. The Catskill region is famous for its historic pristine beauty and the recreational value of it natural resources.
With more than six miles of blue ribbon Catskill trout waters, the East & West Branch of the Neversink River, the famous "Brookie" streams of Biscuit Creek & Pigeon Brook, and the legendary White Pond. These high mountain, freestone streams make Frost Valley one of the premier fly fishing spots in the Catskill Mountains, "The Birth Place of Fly-Fishing".
Frost Valley 's waters are open for members to fly fish from April 1 through October 15. White Pond, stocked with wild brook trout, is available April 1 through October 31. Streams are limited to fly-fishing only and require a New York State fishing license. Lodging is available most of the year. Frost Valley offers superb meal service, outstanding meeting facilities and a wide variety of seasonal educational and recreational programs. For more information on fly fishing, email flyfishing@frostvalley.org.
Hunters are important to maintaining healthy wildlife habitat and diverse wildlife populations. Frost Valley YMCA sponsors an annual hunting membership and works with our hunting members and other outdoor groups to: Train youth and encourage hunting approaches that include family values, center on safety, teach outdoor skills, promote ethical animal harvesting, emphasize the overall quality of the recreational hunting experience, and the maintenance of wildlife diversity and healthy forest ecosystems.
