Instructors Set For 10th Annual Quilting Weekend Oct. 27-29
CLARYVILLE, NY - Five premier quilt artists will be instructors for the 10th annual Quilting Weekend at Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville, NY set for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 27-29.
Sherry Sega will lead a program titled "No Dogs Allowed." The title refers to "feed dogs" and the class focuses on learning machine quilting in your home in a weekend. Thread tension, design and other aspects of quilt-making will be among the topics.
Kris Driessen will present a Gaggle of Geese, a program exploring the many ways to make a Flying Geese quilt. Participants will explore the many Flying Geese options and group members will make blocks for a spectacular quilt while experimenting with different methods.
Anne Foland's class is called Stained Glass Paper Piecing and will teach participants how to make dramatic squares using color-rich batik fabrics. Just bring your sewing machine and scissors.
Stash Bashers is the title of Linda Hahn's program. This entertaining session encourages quilters to bring their scraps, rotary cutting mat, rulers and cutters with a sharp blade to turn forgotten scraps into handsome creations.
The final presenter will be Kathleen Davies whose Oriental Fantasy class will include completion of three exciting projects with an Asian flair. The projects will be: a Chinese take-out box made with fabric and fusible; a hand-appliquéd bonsai tree; and a machine-pieced kimono block, including some embellishment. If time permits, a fourth project will be taught as well.
Check-in begins at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 After registration and dinner, there will be a welcome and orientation, followed by an evening program.
Saturday's activities include an optional morning walk, a full day of workshops, plus all meals. The evening features an optional program as well as time for free sewing.
