Registration Open For Frost Valley Summer Day Camp
Programming Will Be Available for Children Ages 4-16
CLARYVILLE, NY — Registration is now open for the summer 2006 Day Camp sessions for children ages 4-16 at Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville, NY.
The Explorers’ Day Camp is available for children ages 4-6. This is an introduction to Day Camp for young campers. This special camping opportunity allows participants the time and space they need to play, pretend, draw, read and bond with their friends and counselors. Activities include daily swimming, games and short hikes. A campfire rounds out each session.
Day Camp is for campers completing grades 1-5. Campers participate in small, age-based activities. Adventures are plentiful as children enjoy activities at Frost Valley YMCA, recognized as one of the finest camps in the country.
‘Tween Camp is offered for sixth-graders. For children who are too old for Day Camp and too young for Teen Camp, Frost Valley has created ‘Tween Camp. This program is designed to get campers to plan activities like hiking local Catskill peaks and leave camp on the special excursions they helped develop.
Teen Camp is for students in grades 7-10. Participants get to choose their own adventures. Participants pick one or more session, each with its individually-themed activities and trips. The adventures are up to the campers.
The Leaders-in-Training Program is for boys and girls aged 15-16. Campers learn to be ethical, loved, respected and responsible leaders. Experienced staff will train and provide teens with leadership opportunities, including a wilderness camping adventure.
Among the Day Camp activities available (depending on the program) are: swimming, archery, climbing, boating, ropes courses, team building, active games and sports, arts and crafts, gardening, music, theme days, environmental and science activities, camp sing-a-longs, values-based activities, cooking, family nights and more.
Day Camp sessions are for two weeks, unless noted. Program hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Program space is limited. Frost Valley YMCA Main Camp is located seven miles from Claryville, on County Route 47. From Big Indian (Route 28) turn onto County Route 42 and drive 14 miles to Frost Valley. Bus transportation is available from various sites. Bus pick-up will begin at 8 a.m. with drop-off scheduled between 4:45 and 6 p.m.
For the first time, this summer a bus stop on Route 28 for the Frost Valley YMCA Day Camp will be available to serve children from the Phoenicia, Big Indian, Pine Hill, Fleischmanns, Arkville, Margaretville, Andes and the Roxbury areas. The bus stop will pick up at the Big Indian Park on Route 28 at 8:30 a.m. and return children to the park for pick up at 5 p.m.
