"Around The World Fly Fishing" Program at Frost Valley YMCA

CLARYVILLE, NY -An "Around the World" Fly Fishing Program will be hosted by Frost Valley YMCA in Claryville, NY from September 17-22.

Visitors are invited to experience the excitement and relaxation of fly fishing in the Catskill Mountains.  World-renown as "The Birthplace of American Dry Fly Fishing," the Catskill Mountains offer anglers the ideal setting to try their luck on the myriad local trout streams in the region.  This program is designed for anglers with at least a basic knowledge of fly fishing and casting, as no instruction will be provided.

Guests will travel by van with our knowledgeable guides to experience the rivers and streams that have made the Catskill Mountains a worldwide destination for anglers.  Rivers such as the Beaverkill, Delaware, Willowemoc, Esopus and Neversink have been part of fly fishing lore for over a century and still continue to produce some of the best cold water trout fishing on the East Coast. Program participants will fish for vibrant native brook trout, as well as brown trout, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, walleye and perch in Frost Valley YMCA's lakes and ponds.  Anglers will also have access to more than six miles of private streams in the East and West Branches of the Neversink River. Here, fishermen and women can retrace the footsteps of such famous anglers as Theodore Gordon and naturalist John Burroughs.

This program is a perfect opportunity for intermediate and advanced anglers to hone their fly fishing skills among some of the best fishing and most beautiful scenery that the region has to offer.

Enrollment for this program is limited to 22 participants on a first come, first served basis. Guests will be housed in Frost Valley's Straus Center, an historic inn located 14 miles from main camp. This wonderful lodging facility offers the perfect respite for those seeking the opportunity to "get away from it all." Gourmet wellness cuisine, served on premises, is part of the experience. All rooms at the Straus Center feature private baths.

The cost for the "Around The World Fly Fishing" program is $650 per person in a double-occupancy room. These rates include all meals and lodging for the duration of the program.

Established in 1901 as one of the nation's first summer camps, Frost Valley YMCA is located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains and provides four seasons of outdoor, experiential and educational opportunities. Frost Valley YMCA is a 6,000-acre facility offering summer camping for children, environmental education, year-round activities for families and conference and retreat facilities for groups and businesses.
