Snowy Fun at Frost Valley YMCA Winter Camp
in the Catskill State Park from December 27 through 30
FROST VALLEY, NY At the 50th Annual Winter Camp children will enjoy the snow and outdoor wonders at Frost Valley YMCA in the Catskill State Park. During the last week of the year, Frost Valley’s four days of Winter Camp are jam-packed with programs like high ropes, climbing, sports, and arts & crafts.
Traditional camp activities are combined with those available only in winter – like snow tubing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snow shoeing – along with an optional downhill skiing adventure at Belleayre Mountain Ski Resort. Campers will also be treated to 4th of July in December, Winter Olympix, and Mountain Expeditions.
The Summer Camp Counselors come for Winter Camp to part of the fun, too. Brooke Reilly, who grew up as a camper at Frost Valley and developed as a leader through summer and winter programs, can’t wait for Winter Camp to begin. “I love to catch up with my campers from the previous summer and find out how they’re doing in school. And I really like seeing new campers have tons of fun and become part of the Frost Valley community, too,” Brooke said. She has been a staff member for six years now and she said, “Once a kid comes to camp and loves it, they are hooked for life. Camp becomes a part of them -- they want to spend as much time at Frost Valley as possible. Winter Camp provides a perfect opportunity for kids to enjoy something totally new and different for their winter vacation.”
Winter Camp will be held Tuesday, December 27, through Friday, December 30, and is easy to get to via buses leaving Montclair, New Jersey, and Brooklyn, New York, or by car. Eligible children must be age seven to sixteen. With a maximum of only 120 campers, spaces are limited and early registration is encouraged.
Frost Valley YMCA is a year-round camping and conference facility serving 35,000 people annually through family programs, environmental education for students, and summer camp. For 104 years Frost Valley’s focus on spirit, mind, and body has promoted positive character traits, outdoor activity, and the value of nature.
